Aziza Shirzad, Software Developer, 2Toucans

Aziza’s journey began in Afghanistan and took her from seeking refuge in Pakistan to achieving success in the tech industry in London. Her family immigrated to Pakistan during her childhood, where she developed a passion for mathematics and computer science despite the challenges of displacement. This passion led her to a career in teaching, empowering young minds in public and private schools in Afghanistan.

Destiny later brought her to London, where she faced the challenges of adapting to a new culture and job market. Despite language barriers and cultural differences, Aziza’s resilience and determination saw her transition from teaching to the tech industry. With the support of mentors and colleagues, she thrived, learning the importance of resilience, empathy, and inclusivity.

Today, Aziza’s journey is a testament to the power of education and determination. She aims to inspire others to embrace diversity, pursue their passions, and navigate life’s complexities with courage. Through her story, she advocates for a more inclusive and vibrant tech community where every voice is heard and every individual is empowered to succeed.

Nabil AlSoufi, Employment Advisor – Pathways to Work, Refugee Action

Nabil is an experienced Employment Advisor specializing in supporting refugees in the UK. With a strong background in career guidance, employment support, and interview preparation, he has successfully helped clients overcome barriers to employment and achieve their career goals.

In his current role, he creates personalized job search strategies and provides targeted interview coaching. Nabil is known for his client-centred approach and dedication to empowering individuals to navigate the job market confidently and effectively.

Passionate about making a positive impact, he continuously improves services based on client feedback, ensuring high-quality support for all clients. As an active member of CIPD, he stays updated with the latest industry trends and best practices.

Iryna Yashchuk, Pathways to Work Client, Project Manager in IT/Digital

An experienced Project Manager with a strong technical background in software development, she has worked in product and outsourcing companies, implementing 25 successful projects using Waterfall and Agile methodologies, as well as different approaches such as PMP and Prince2.

She has completed PMP and Prince2 courses and is preparing to get certification. Additionally, she has achieved a “Software Development” course, which helps her understand developers better.

She is passionate about making an impact and continuously improving her skills and knowledge about management, psychology, and technology. As an active member of the PMP society, she stays updated with the latest industry trends and best practices.

Chandeep Khosa, Managing Director, 2Toucans

Chandeep is a seasoned software developer and the visionary owner of 2Toucans, a leading web development company. With nearly 20 years of coding experience, he expertly manages development, networking, and administration, while also mentoring aspiring developers. At 2Toucans, he fosters a community that champions diversity and inclusivity, offering flexible internship opportunities that benefit women and parents balancing professional and personal responsibilities. His friendly nature and love for connecting with people worldwide enrich his leadership style. Beyond tech, Chandeep enjoys learning new languages and cultures. He is excited to share his insights at the upcoming BIMA talk, where he will discuss the future of tech, the importance of inclusivity, and the latest innovations in web development.
