Ecommerce continues to grow. By 2030 ecommerce sales from FMCG brands are expected to contribute 11% of all global FMCG sales, up from less than 1.5% in 2018. Currently, a lot of these sales come from digital retailers like Amazon and eBay or the traditional grocers online offering.

Selling directly to the consumer can allow FMCG brands to have a direct relationship with their customers. Brands can gain some independence from retailers and freedom from their competitors. All while learning more about the way their customers interact with the brand a shop than they ever have known before.
