Onespacemedia launches new brand and website for Cambridge Science Park

21 Mar 2018

The Onespacemedia team has launched a new branding and web design project for the Cambridge Science Park, Europe’s oldest and most successful science park.

This is the latest project in Onespacemedia’s expanding portfolio of clients in the science and technology sector, and follows the launch of a brand and website for the Bradfield Centre – the Cambridge Science Park’s new state-of-the-art Centre for deep technology companies. Other Onespacemedia clients located on the Park include clinical diagnostics leaders Owlstone Medical and tech community hub, Cambridge Wireless.

Since it was founded by Trinity College in 1970, Cambridge Science Park has played a pivotal role in the “Cambridge Phenomenon” – the transformation of Cambridge from a market town with a world-class university to one of the leading technology hotspots in the world.

Today the Park is home to over 100 companies ranging from University spin-outs to global corporations seeking to recruit graduates and entrepreneurial talent in the Cambridge area.

With a new cycle of investment underway, the Cambridge Science Park is currently undergoing an exciting phase of renewal. The comprehensive programme of works includes enhancements to outdoor spaces, transport and amenities, as well as the development of state-of-the-art laboratories and offices.

We were commissioned to refresh the Park’s brand, update its digital infrastructure, and develop an intranet for the benefit of the companies and people on the Park.

The Park’s vibrant new logo is an infinite loop of blended colours. Based on the outline shape of the site, it symbolises the dynamism of the companies on the Park, and open innovation as well as the convergence of technologies. The sophisticated and versatile aesthetic is echoed through the website and other collateral, with bold typography and a modern, vibrant colour palette.

The website creates an intuitive and immersive experience that reflects Cambridge Science Park’s reputation for outstanding innovation and discovery. Using modern design and UX trends, it is a model for best digital practice, showcasing the Park’s heritage, facilities, brand and reputation.

Onespacemedia designed the website to serve a wide range of audiences, crafting intuitive user journeys for each audience type. For existing tenants of the Park, the platform provides a secure platform on which tenant companies can post news, messages, job vacancies and events – helping to facilitate interactions between the various companies on the Park.

In addition to property information, prospective tenants can access a searchable directory of the companies already on the site.

The overview of the Park includes its history, tenants, amenities, community and location. Other notable features include a comprehensive jobs board and live traffic and travel updates.

James Cotton, Onespacemedia’s MD & Founder, commented “It’s an honour to be associated with this current phase of renewal in the Cambridge Science Park’s evolution. The Onespacemedia and Cambridge Science Park teams worked closely to define key audiences and objectives. The new website showcases the Park’s historical and ongoing contribution to global science and technology, as well as providing a range of digital tools to foster greater collaboration between the companies that have chosen the Cambridge Science Park as their home”.

“Working with Onespacemedia has been a hugely positive experience. Their friendly, professional, “can-do” approach is truly commendable”. Jeanette Walker, Cambridge Science Park Director
