The Natural History Museum and the Royal Horticultural Society, working with Esri UK and with funding from the Department for Education, embarked on a project to develop a first-of-its-kind nationwide environmental education programme: the National Education Nature Park. Part of the DfE’s climate and sustainability strategy, the programme aims to transform the way we teach climate education and support young people to act and increase biodiversity across England.
Digital experience agency manifesto created the web platform for the project, which launched successfully in October 2023. With nearly 3,000 schools, nurseries and colleges signed up and more than 1,000 education setting site boundaries added to the map within the first ten months, the platform has seen marked increases in user engagement and resource utilisation. The robust insights gathered from Google Analytics have provided a clear direction for future enhancements, ensuring the platform continues to meet the needs of its users effectively.
