Why is it important that we continue to hold the BIMA Awards?
BIMA provides the most diverse and wide-ranging digital awards event in the UK digital market. It is important that it can continue to thrive, and represent all corners of our industry.
Why did you accept the invitation to be a BIMA Awards jury member?
It is a privilege to be involved in the judging this year, and I jumped at the chance when offered!
What are the key traits that make a BIMA Award winner?
I am looking for true creativity and original thinking. Key traits for me are folks who clearly have a passion for what they do and are always trying to move the industry forward in their particular field.
What do entrants have to do to make you sit up and say ‘wow’?
It is easy to dis-associate creativity and data, but the scope of its applications are truly broad. There are lots of different types of data whereas people tend to think of it as personal data, I like to see applications beyond just that and see how creative people can be.
The Grand Jury prizes will require you to select one winner in each category from 6 worthy winners. How do you begin to separate the field?
Naturally separating the field will be very hard across categories, however true originality and impact usually stand out!
Pick any one of this year’s main categories (Communications & Content; Data & Performance Marketing; Emerging Technology; Transformation & Consultancy; Product & Service Design; Website & Apps). Explain why that category has particular importance/significance/resonance for you.
While I am excited to judge the Data & Performance Marketing Category, based on what my company does and my field of expertise, I am also very keen to see the Transformation & Consultancy entries. AS the digital world evolves through another cycle, transformation has never been more important, and arguably more challenging!
