Whether you’re at the start of your career or a seasoned veteran, understanding what it means to lead, to be a leader, is important. Even more so in the 21st century, especially as the workplace evolves to accommodate new expectations, motivations and technologies.
We’ve curated three phenomenal speakers, each with their own experience of what it means to lead and they’ve very kindly offered to share their perspectives and insights with us.
Speakers:
Fern Miller, Chief Strategy Officer
With over 20 years experience inspiring change for brands, campaigns and businesses, Fern’s expertise in growth strategies is beyond reproach. A former Partner at Grey Consulting, as well as roles such as Chief Strategy Officer at Digitas LBi, Accomplice, and Native Design, and Executive Strategy Director at R/GA, Fern is known for her work with UNICEF on its global brand transformation, advising start ups such as Azimo (a money transfer company that were bought in 2022 for $200m), is an APG Grand Prix winner and an advisor to climate innovators, Eden Labs and the Climate Agency. Phew.
Gemma Greaves, Co-Founder, Nurture
Known for her natural talent for bringing people together and igniting creativity, Gemma Greaves wears multiple hats as the co-founder of Nurture and the visionary behind Cabal. With a deep-seated belief in the power of genuine connections, she’s on a mission to create experiences that not only cultivate growth but also leave a lasting impact.
During her tenure as Chief Executive of The Marketing Society, Gemma led the charge in transforming it into a global community where authenticity and bravery took centre stage. Her bold initiatives challenged taboos and pushed boundaries sparking a global movement within the industry.
Behind the mic of the acclaimed podcast “Are You Sitting Uncomfortably?”, Gemma invites listeners on a journey of vulnerability and growth, showcasing the power of storytelling in navigating life’s uncertainties. And as the first female president of the Solus Club, she broke barriers and paved the way for inclusivity in a historically male-dominated space. However, her greatest achievement is being Mum to Joshie, her curious eight-year-old son.
Laura Whibicks, Director, Music Licensing, Prime Video and Amazon Music
A lawyer by training, Laura was one of the early employees at Spotify. Indeed as their first pair of feet on the ground in South America, she helped that business establish itself in that part of the world. Laura now leads a global team with offices in both London and LA, as they secure music licences for Amazon Prime Video.
