Nomensa hosted their annual Collaborate event on June 21st in Bristol, marking another successful and insightful event for designers, creators & beyond. The Water Shed in central Bristol served as the perfect venue, with 8 industry leaders walking us through their experiences, theories, and lessons regarding design.
Onkardeep Singh MBE delivered a very simple but powerful message. His talk “Being passionate but not precious about your work” delved into the cognitive processes behind some of our experiences on projects. Onkardeep set to separate logical cognitive thinking from natural, reactionary actions we experience through the process of development. He identified that the worst of these were our actions born out anger, and stated that this happens as we include ourselves too heavily in our work in terms of pride. Onkardeep encouraged the audience to take a step away and allow us to logically act rather than reactively act, and gave tips for mindfulness and well-being in the process.
