When the digital skills of the many do not match the speed of change, how can we ever expect to keep up, let alone drive the industry forward?
Digital transformation and the digital skills gap are topics hot on everyone’s lips. On the whole thus far, talk has centred around the technical skills needed for the digital roles of the future, and how we bring in new talent to fill this need. One of our Glasgow-based members, however, is tackling the digital skills gap from the viewpoint of the facilitator with a training programme designed to teach the skills that enable and drive digital projects and help you excel in your career.
The skills gap is something that affects so many BIMA members that we thought you might find this interesting. Here are the details:
This 12-month career development training programme has been specifically designed to upskill employees working on digital projects. It’s ideal for business analysts, service designers, user researchers, product managers, digital planners, strategists and more.
The focus is on the training of ‘Changemakers’, individuals with a drive to advance their skills and future-proof their roles in digital projects.
The programme has been developed with insight and input from financial services, public sector, high growth tech and digital agencies in Scotland.
It features four weeks’ immersive training in the classroom and workplace covering the fundamental skills that industry has told This is Milk are most urgently needed. They include: tools, project methodology and cultures, technology and emerging trends, facilitation, self-development and soft skills.
Other features of the programme include:
1. 12-month relationship with an industry-specific paired mentor
2. Alumni community hub – sharing knowledge, advice, industry trends online and at events
3. Continually evolving course content – matching the needs of industry today and tomorrow
4. Diverse approaches and thought through mixed business cohorts
5. Career development plans – empowering ownership and development of personal career paths
6. 3 to 6 month paid project placement – for students not currently employed
It’s exciting to follow the progress that is being made in Scotland to tackle the digital skills gap, and it’s good to see non-technical skill sharing the limelight.
