London, 6th March 2025 – BIMA, the UK’s leading voice in tech and creativity, proudly announces the winners of Digital Day 2024. The only initiative of its kind, Digital Day gives 11 to 16-year-olds a unique insight into digital careers, connecting them with industry professionals for hands-on experience. Students take part in a sponsored, nationwide challenge, making it an exciting and valuable opportunity for schools, students, and the wider industry.

With over 200 schools and 10,000 students participating, this year’s event was a major success, thanks to the support of BIMA members, sponsors EPAM and Human First Collective, and challenge partners Burberry, Microsoft, and the RSPCA.

“BIMA Digital Day continues to inspire and empower the next generation of digital talent, and we are proud to have partnered with BIMA for the seventh consecutive year to support this fantastic initiative,” said Kate Pretkel, Vice President, Global Head of Sustainability at EPAM. “Together, we are shaping the digital leaders of tomorrow by equipping young minds with the tools, mentorship and opportunities to explore digital careers. This initiative drives innovation and helps ensure every young person, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive in the digital economy. Congratulations to all the winners – your creativity and ingenuity demonstrate that the next generation of digital innovation is full of potential.”

“Human First Collective were absolutely thrilled to be a sponsor for Digital Day in 2024. As long-term supporters of the initiative, to sit on the judging panel this year was fascinating. The quality of the work produced by the students in one day is so inspiring, their imagination knows no bounds and excites me for the future talent we have in the digital industry pipeline! Digital Day is such an important day – it opens a wide range of young people’s eyes to the digital and creative world, giving them a real-world perspective of what working in our sector looks like. Well done to every student, school and agency that took part, particularly to the fantastic winners.” said Becky Simms, CEO of Human First Collective.

The Challenges

Students tackled real-world digital challenges set by leading industry brands. A panel of experts from BIMA, challenge partners, and sponsors EPAM and Human First Collective evaluated submissions and selected three winning schools.

“Burberry was delighted to be involved with the BIMA Digital Day 2024. We were really impressed by the level of engagement and proposals we received in response to our challenge. It was great to support the next generation of talent in applying creative thinking to the development of a digital strategy. We were pleased to select the Poole High School’s submission, a great proposal which showed real potential.” said Russ Pritchard, Business Relationship Director at Burberry.

“Microsoft is honoured to have participated in BIMA Digital Day, inspiring students to address real-world digital challenges. By nurturing the creativity and innovation of our future generations, we empower them to make a significant impact with their ideas. We were amazed by the innovative solutions from all participating schools, especially Henrietta Barnett School, where the student’s integrated inclusivity, health, learning, careers, user experience, research all while leveraging AI and Copilot technology to enhance remote learning for secondary students.” said Lisa Doan, Partner Development Manager | Global Partner Solutions at Microsoft.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the winning proposal from Winterbourne Academy and Nomensa. Their innovative approach and ideas were truly inspiring as was their aspirations for animal welfare. It highlights just how crucial it is for young people to grasp the power and potential of the digital industry as a force for good – they are the future innovators who will shape how we connect with the world.” said Darragh Field, Assistant Director – Digital at RSPCA.

BIMA members’ commitment to fostering digital skills and innovation continues to strengthen Digital Day, making it bigger and more impactful each year.

“Digital Day is all about opening doors for young people and showing them the incredible opportunities a career in digital can offer. Every year, we are amazed by the creativity, problem-solving, and fresh thinking that students bring to the challenges. Digital Day proves time and again how important it is to nurture young talent, and we can’t wait to see the impact this year’s participants will have on the future of our industry!” said Giorgia Andreano, Marketing Manager at BIMA.
