Last night (Thursday 14 September) BIMA announced the winners of the BIMA Awards 2017 at the industry-wide ceremony, held at The Yard in Shoreditch.
Co-hosted by BIMA Awards and Diversity Chair Nadya Powell and the incredible spoken work artist Sophia Thakur, this year’s event was a triumph for British digital and the leading minds pushing the industry forward and driving change.
The BIMA Awards represent the most innovative, future-facing work across the entire digital eco-system whilst championing those driving social change, diversity and talent in the industry. 330 of the digital industries finest talent gathered to celebrate – and boy was it an incredible night!
Grand Prix Winners – Livity
Livity, the youth-led creative network, won the Grand Prix prize for its innovative and ethical work reinventing the agency model. Livity was also named the Entrepreneurial Business of the Year.
This year saw the introduction of the BIMA Advance Awards designed to draw focus on celebrating those carving a new path for a better industry by making a difference in business, culture and society.
OMG Ethnic, a multicultural marketing division of Omnicom Media Group, took home the BIMA Advance Award for Diversity, with Ali Hanan, Founder of Creative Equals there to award them their trophy.
Also recognised in the BIMA Advance Awards was Cancer Research UK took home the title of BIMA Advance Awards for Talent for their work developing digital talent to beat cancer sooner.
BIMA Advance Award: Diversity Winner – OMG Ethnic
The Official Gorillaz app developed by B-Reel, won four awards including ‘Craft’ awards in both the Technology and Immersive categories as well as the ‘Innovation’ award for in the Communications and Content category. Karmarama won in the data category for ‘Impact’ and ‘Craft’ with the ’This is belonging’ campaign for The Army, whilst DigitasLBi won three awards for its work with POLITICO on the EU Referendum Tracker.
