Last night (Tuesday 10 May 2016) BIMA celebrated the newest incumbents of the BIMA 100 and two inductees of the BIMA Hall of Fame.

Online music platform SBTV founder and digital entrepreneur Jamal Edwards and social games company King CEO Riccardo Zacconi were inducted as the latest inductees into the BIMA Hall of Fame, joining the likes of Sir Tim Berners Lee and Dame Martha Lane Fox.

Zacconi is one of King’s founders and has served on the Board of Directors and as CEO since March 2003. The social games company King is famous for its Candy Crush app, which has taken the world by storm.

Edwards established the online music platform SBTV when he was 15 years old after he was given a camera as a present by his parents. He started filming and uploading videos to YouTube of his friends rapping on the estate where he grew up. The SBTV channel is hugely popular among London’s underground scene, as well as commanding a global youth audience.

Last night’s exclusive invite-only event at the Ham Yard Hotel also honoured the BIMA 100: a list of UK’s biggest movers and shakers in digital. The BIMA 100 are nominated by the industry, with the final list being decided by a panel of leading digital experts chaired by Lawrence Weber, Managing Partner Innovation at Karmarama.

The BIMA 100 was split into 10 categories this year, in recognition of the UK digital industry’s diverse talents. Existing categories include Brand-side Digital Stars, CEOs & Leaders, Champions, Creatives, Innovators & Entrepreneurs, and UX & Service Design, while new categories include Devs & Makers, Client Service Stars, and Planners & strategists.

New entrants to this year’s BIMA 100 include:
•    Julie Seal, Creative Strategist, Facebook (Creatives)
•    Andy Hood, Head of Emerging Technologies, AKQA (Champions)
•    Diane Young, Co-Founder, The Drum (CEOs & Leaders)
