Manchester Community Networking & Pre-Drinks

Posted by Gray Matters

BD Matters is proud to support the launch of FuckUp Nights Manchester. Come and have a drink on us at pre-drinks, with good chats and even better stories.

Failure happens. So let’s talk about it.

FuckUp Nights is a global movement where people get on stage and share the big mistakes, the wrong turns, and the not-so-shiny bits of their careers. No fluff. No filters. Just real stories from people who’ve messed up — and lived to tell the tale.

It’s honest, it’s funny, and more than anything, it’s a reminder that failure is part of the journey. Not something to hide, but something to learn from.

Now, it’s landed in Manchester.

Come along if you fancy hearing some brilliant stories, meeting decent people, and being part of a community that’s reshaping how we talk about failure. Because let’s face it — we’ve all got a story.

Tickets are limited and if you sign up to our pre-drinks event you will receive a 10% discount code for tickets to the FuckUp Nights event.

Gray Matters

Gray Matters is a business development consultancy for founder-led agencies and firms.

We help businesses find the story that sets them apart and build the system that turns that difference into consistent growth.

Our belief is that successful business development requires both an edge and an engine.

The edge is the proposition, story, point of view and human quality that makes a business worth noticing.

The engine is the strategy, process, technology, habits and commercial discipline that make growth repeatable.

Too many businesses have one without the other. Some have strong systems but sound exactly like everybody else. Others have an interesting story but rely on referrals, founder energy and inconsistent activity.

Gray Matters brings the two together.

We do not believe business development is solved by buying a CRM, hiring one salesperson, sending more automated messages or outsourcing lead generation in isolation. Those things can play a role, but only as part of a joined-up growth system.

Our perspective is that:

– Sales should feel human rather than transactional.

– Technology should support judgement and relationships, not replace them.

– A CRM cannot compensate for an unclear proposition.

– More activity does not automatically create more relevance.

– Referrals are valuable, but they should be nurtured systematically rather than left to chance.

– Sustainable growth comes from connecting positioning, marketing, sales, technology and behaviour.

– The goal is not to make a client dependent on Gray Matters. We build capability, embed the process and eventually step out.
