The digital industry is responsible for an estimated 2–5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, surpassing even the aviation sector. As the impact of digital products and services continues to grow, there’s an increasing need for clearer, more sustainable ways of designing and building for the web.
Our new Sustainability Peer Network host, Susie Howells, will be leading a session on the Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSG): a set of evidence-based best practices designed to help designers, developers, and policymakers build digital products and services that put people and planet first.
The session will spotlight the W3C’s ongoing work to develop the WSG and will be introduced by leading author, Alexander Dawson.
Limited to 12 attendees to allow for discussion. The Chatham House Rule applies and places are strictly limited to one per organisation.
We hope you can make it!
Your data is important to us and we’re committed to protecting it. We have updated our policy to make it easy for you to understand your choices and the control you have over your data. Please review here.
Susie has worked in digital delivery and operations for over 15 years, across global organisations and agency environments. She’s also the Founder & Director of Re:Kit CIC, a local circular recommerce initiative for school uniforms.
Drawing on her experience building sustainable and circular systems, Susie will host sessions that connect sustainability to the realities of digital teams, exploring how it shows up in day-to-day decisions and ways of working. These sessions are a space for members to share learning, ideas and initiatives, discuss challenges, and translate principles into practical actions they can apply in their organisations.
