BIMA Beyond: Exploring the Metaverse. Part 2 – Web3

Whether The Metaverse is the future of the Internet, or a game or a more uncomfortable and less personable video conference, the applications that will bring it to life will undoubtably involve blockchain technologies, decentralised autonomous organisations, non-fungible tokens and cryptocurrencies.

And yes, they are real words.

Apparently they’re the components of Web3, a collection of new technologies that will help deliver a more immersive, more trustworthy and more equitable version of the Internet.

But what we really want to know is what does all of this actually mean for our clients and our businesses? What are the benefits compared to the costs? Are we making our lives easier or more complicated? Do we even know what is going on?

Beep! Digital are a Poole-based digital design studio and BIMA member who specialise in working with Silicon Valley-backed technology start-ups. Their 15-strong team spend their days immersed in the latest technologies, helping innovative companies communicate their story.

And even they struggle to agree on a definition of the metaverse!

So the team are setting off on a journey to understand the intricacies of the metaverse and more importantly what it means for their clients. And yours too. Joining Beep! Digital on this part of their expedition will be three expert guides:

• Pete Hill, VP Corporate Development, Cudos

These three businesses are operating right at the coalface of modern digital innovation, literally creating the world of the future.

Embed Solutions connects brands with NFT owners and helps both parties manage and monetise their relationships. And Paul is also the co-founder of The Pandimensionals, an NFT-enabled story-driven virtual world. The Pavia Metaverse is the first fully tradable built on the Cardano Blockchain and Cudos is a Silicon Valley-backed company whose system uses spare computing power to enable a more environmentally-friendly way to process blockchains.

We will all hear about, see and experience, real world examples of some Web3-related technologies. There’ll be a chance to quiz our chaperones, as well as drinks and nibbles, and we’ll all leave the evening better connected and more informed.
