Thursday morning saw the first in BIMA’s series of online events looking to support & share knowledge with our community.
Hosted by BIMA Co-President Natalie Gross & Rufus Leonard CEO Laurence Parks, the session saw 12 Senior Digital Leaders from the BIMA Membership come together to discuss thoughts, ideas, questions, comments & concerns surrounding the current climate of their business and beyond.
We have a number of these webinars coming up and we would love to see you at the next one, take a look at the full list and sign up here.
There were some top insights given, with a few key themes and thoughts shared that stood out:
How to minimise revenue decline and increase new biz opportunities
- Collaborations with other agencies (e.g. resource sharing)
- Diversification of offer
- Creativity with rates (e.g. Slashing day-rate to get revenue in now)
- Re-focus NB team on long-term internal projects – but be considered don’t rush things
- Be realistic with targets so that people don’t get disheartened
- Have as many conversations now that could become business in Q4
How to succeed in remote working (esp. in keeping the culture alive and esure employee wellbeing)
- Virtual coffee mornings, pizza parties, Mario Kart gaming sessions
- Make sure there are channels to let people chat shit
- Quick personal story sessions
- New joiners – Get everyone to say hello, give them specific culture sessions, check-ins, buddies.
- Give people structure in the day – team stand-ups, all agency meetings
- Make it about goals and objectives not tasks.
- Encourage people to get out of the house for exercise and take their holidays (in UK)
- More advice needed on how to do particularly tactile interactions online
How to manage resilience planning responsibly
- Go through a phased approach with your talent costs last
- Try to turn things down rather than off as you might need to ramp them back up again in Q4
- Find ways to defer payment (increase payment terms, etc.)
- Be transparent with employees and encourage them to meet you half-way on measures to reduce costs.
- Find out exactly the support the govt will offer to us
A massive thank you to those Senior Digital Leaders who attended and also our co-hosts Natalie & Laurence. We have a number of these webinars coming up and we would love to see you at the next one, take a look at the full list and sign up here.

I’ve been part of BIMA since 2018 and have seen the community reach new heights. As Membership Development Manager its my job to make sure that we are constantly growing as an organisation, both in numbers but also in achievements. It’s our goal to be in as many regions as we can over the next few years, and to expand BIMA’s offering to have something for everyone, we are looking towards Gaming, Fintech & more as our key areas to develop, whilst also expanding our offering for the nearly 400 incredible members we currently have.
