London, 13th September 2023 — The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) is thrilled to announce that Vue Entertainment, the leading entertainment provider in the UK and Ireland, is teaming up with our sponsor, EPAM Systems, Inc., a leading digital transformation services and product engineering company, to issue this year’s Digital Day challenge.
With 91 state-of-the-art cinemas and over 870 screens, Vue Entertainment holds a prominent position in the entertainment landscape. Their involvement in this year’s Digital Day challenge adds a new dimension of excitement.
“For the fifth year running, we are thrilled to stand alongside our valued partners, Vue Entertainment and BIMA, as we embark on another exciting journey with BIMA Digital Day. Our unwavering commitment to shaping the digital leaders of tomorrow drives us forward. We are dedicated to narrowing the digital skills gap through education, inspiring young minds to embrace digital careers and providing sustained support to those just starting on their professional path. Join us as we continue to make a meaningful impact on the education and development of future professionals. Together, we ignite possibilities and pave the way for a digital future” said Kate Pretkel, Vice President, People Programs, EPAM.
David Cameron, Head of Marketing UK & Ireland for Vue Entertainment said “We are delighted to have been asked to participate in this year’s Digital Day. We can’t wait to see how the young tech and digital talents respond to our challenge involving the big screen experience and look forward to witnessing the developing skills and talent across the country.”
Last year’s event saw impressive participation, with over 200 schools and approximately 10,000 students aged 11 to 16 taking on the Digital Day challenge, supported by more than 150 digital and tech companies. The event showcased the enthusiasm and potential of young minds in the digital realm.
The post-event survey of Digital Day 2022 revealed a significant rise in female student involvement with digital technologies, and it highlighted the invaluable dedication of BIMA members to fostering digital careers, especially among women, ensuring equal access to opportunities in the digital industry.
“It’s been so rewarding to see the rise in the number of female students that take part in Digital Day. We are coming out of the time when a career in digital was just seen as coding and appealed mostly to male students in a computer science class. It’s now seen as problem solving through innovation and that’s embraced by all students. As we grow Digital Day our focus is also starting to turn to inspiring students that are neurodiverse. Watch this space!” said Matt Sullivan, BIMA’s MD.
The 12th edition of Digital Day is taking place on 8th November this year. Applications are now open, with the deadline for sign-ups set for Friday, 13th October. Join us in inspiring the next generation of digital talent—sign up for Digital Day today.
