Talented undergraduate joins the creative team

18 Apr 2017

We’re delighted to introduce Florence Aylin (Flossie) who has joined our creative team. Flossie is in the second year of a BA (Hons) Graphic Design course at Anglia Ruskin University and joins us as a junior designer alongside her studies.

We have an ongoing relationship with Anglia Ruskin University having judged their Electric Eye degree show in 2016 as well as being involved in The Employability Forum. The forum, designed to help students think about their work in a commercial context to prepare them for their careers, involved setting students a fictional ‘live brief’. Design students were challenged to create a brand identity and show its application across a range of media – together with a set of brand guidelines and full costings. We were very impressed by Flossie’s interpretation of the brief and her positive attitude and were delighted to offer her a part-time role.

Flossie said “I’d probably decided in my first few weeks at sixth form that I wanted to pursue a career in design. I was introduced to design through print initially and my degree course has helped me to transfer my print design skills to digital. The live brief gave me an insight into design in the commercial world that I wouldn’t otherwise have had. I’m excited to have a role that gives me hands-on experience with a talented and helpful team to help boost my studies and career prospects.”

We take our involvement with education initiatives very seriously – it’s vital for the health of the creative industries as a whole that young talent is nurtured. James Dellar, Creative Director at Onespacemedia

“Setting the live brief and being involved throughout the project I got to see Flossie’s skills develop first hand, and within the short period of time that she’s been with us we’ve seen even more progress. The skills that she’s learning will complement her studies and get her ready for the professional environment. It’s great to have her on the team!”
