Biography

Jane Newell Brown is a member of the BIMA Mentoring Council and professional advisor to the organisation’s mentoring scheme. Jane’s passion for people, their development, growth and success has led to her work focus over the last fifteen years. Working primarily with young, fast-growing owner/partner led businesses she helps business leaders spend less time dealing with people issues and more time with their clients and developing their businesses. Typical partner clients are primarily people and service businesses in sectors where talent is in short supply.

The investment in people is therefore a commercial imperative as well as the right thing to do.

With a strong business focus her particular interest is organisational development; ensuring people are performing at the top of their game, retaining the team and being a business everyone wants to work in. This involves ensuring everyone is in the right role and knows how to get to the next level, people stay in the business because business leaders and managers are skilled at looking after and developing people and the business can attract people to it because of its values and how it operates.

She is a highly experienced coach, facilitator, trainer (primarily in leadership and management development) and mentor working with business leaders and emerging talent to develop their skills and business strategies, typically working with her client organisations over a long period of five or more years as they grow into larger organisations.

A first degree in European business was followed by a broad early career in business including pioneering and growing her own early-stage business in recruitment outsourcing. This give her a wide business base from which to both work and understand clients and their businesses. To support her learning and development practice she gained a post-grad teaching qualification and more recently a Masters in Organisational Consultancy.

She is the co-author of a major best-selling book for both agency and in-house recruiters ‘The Professional Recruiter’s Guide’ published by Kogan Page in its third edition. Her second book, ‘A Complete Guide to Recruitment’ is also published by Kogan Page.
