Employee wellbeing and disability discrimination law – how do you manage both?

We will be discussing how to manage employee wellbeing against the backdrop of employment law requirements.

One in four people in the UK experience a mental health problem each year but only one in eight adults with a mental health problem are currently receiving treatment. Employees often only raise mental health issues with their employer at the stage when they are subjected to formal disciplinary or performance procedures and they frequently cite their mental health as the reason for the alleged misconduct or poor performance, creating a tricky path for employers to navigate.

Join us for our breakfast forum on Wednesday 6 February, which will provide practical advice and guidance on the following questions:

– What are the main reasons for work-related stress, depression and anxiety?

– What does the latest case law say about an employer’s duties in such situations?

– What can you do to mitigate the risks (particularly of a claim of “Discrimination Arising From a Disability”) whilst providing appropriate support for the individual?

– We will also work through some practical case studies drawn from our own experiences of handling issues of mental health in the workplace.

Who should attend: This session will be of interest to HR practitioners, in-house employment lawyers and anyone in your organisation with responsibility for managing people issues.
