BIMA meets Higher Education in the Liverpool City Region – Meeting 2
As part of our second meeting we are looking to delve deeper into some of the ideas we discussed in November and start to pull together several working groups to take us further into the planning for 2020.
We are really excited about getting all the universities and higher educational establishments together at the Angel Solutions circus as we believe that working together will bring about more opportunities for industry and education to work together and see more young people fiinding jobs in the digital industry.
Is this for you?
This event is open to anyone working in Higher Education in the LCR.
The session will once again be led by Angel Solutions Founder, Andy Kent and we will be looking further into into:
Recruitment: easier for graduating students to access jobs in the sector and cutting out the middle layer of recruitment agents so employers money can be channeled towards training any new hires – good for the TEF too!
Employer Engagement: Making it easier for universities to access employers in one room rather than lots of separate meetings.
Work Experience/Placements/Careers Fairs/Industry Talks – lots of good practice here already but looking for ways to bring industry in sooner (year 1) or during careers fairs, as well the topic of site visits to areas such as the Baltic or the Knowledge Quarter. Less “tick-box” health & safety site visits and more structured programmes with a curriculum that also covers soft skills (graduate engagement, raising aspirations, raising awareness of job roles).
Aligning university programmes with sector needs – formulating them at the right stages (inception) to ensure they get greater buy in from the sector when they are announced.
We are very much looking forward to giving you a warm welcome and making sure we all leave feeling excited about opportunities to work together for the benefit of the region.
