Support Us

Ours is an industry desperate for new talent. So we certainly can’t afford to lose the talent we have. Yet, as the outbreak continues, more and more of our members – particularly those in new, small and medium-sized companies – are struggling. And we really need your help to help them.

What

We are looking for our industry’s most experienced leaders to support and mentor the less experienced through the crisis. Over the next three months we want to pair companies who fit the criteria with industry leaders who have the experience to help them survive and then thrive post-outbreak.
Mentees will also be supported by our weekly webinars and partner support covering areas such as leadership, HR, legal, new business, finance and mental health.

Who

Mentors: You’re an industry leader – a director, founder, CEO, a BIMA Hall of Fame member, a non-exec director, a BIMA 100 alumnus, a BIMA council member or a past BIMA mentor. In short, you have the experience and the ideas to offer practical help.

Mentees: You must be a BIMA member,  have 100 staff or fewer and in need of support.

Why

Many – if not most – of our members are suffering significantly as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. None of us have led teams through such a period, but when you’re a relatively new leader the challenge can feel overwhelming.

Once we’re through this, we’ll need our entire ecosystem of talent – small, large, new and established. Through your contributions, financial and experiential, you can help them weather the storm.

Support Us

We’re taking the unusual step of asking mentors (rather than mentees) to commit £500 to fund the arrangement or £2,500 if your company would like to support. If you can’t commit to mentoring right now but could support this initiative, we’ll make sure your donation is put to good work. If you would like to get involved please email hollyhall@bima.co.uk

Who are the Mentors?

BIMA have invited a selection of senior leaders of established companies within its community to lend their expertise. These individuals have experience of running their own business or business unit, have weathered past storms and are keen to support those on the front line.

What is their role?

Your mentor is able to share their past experience and knowledge to support you at this critical time. In the short-term, they’ll be able to offer practical and objective advice and act as a sounding board for the important decisions you’ll be making. In the long-term, they’ll be able to help you set goals and build for the future.

How are mentees and mentors matched?

Mentees and mentors are matched using the information provided on the application form. We will aim to match you with a mentor with experience of your industry sector. We may also interview you by phone to find out more about your company and current circumstances.

Rules of engagement

All discussions are confidential between you and your mentor.

The mentors have agreed to support you on a free basis – they want to use their skills and experience to help you. Please be aware the mentors are not liable for any actions you might take as a result of their suggestions or introductions

Apply to become a Mentee here. Applications are now open.

Could you support BIMA?

We’ve never known a time like this. And we’ve never seen our services in greater need. We want to do even more to help the digital and tech industry but as a not for profit our resources are limited and increasingly stretched. We’re doing all we can to help protect our industry, but with your financial support we could do so much more.

Could you help us out please?
